Facial Lines
& Crow’s Feet

Fine lines and wrinkles develop as collagen production slows and skin loses its structural resilience — a natural consequence of aging, sun exposure, and repeated muscle movement. Dr. Martin approaches this concern by targeting the underlying causes: collagen degradation and surface irregularity, rather than simply masking the appearance.

Treatment selection is guided by the depth and location of the lines, the patient's skin quality, and their tolerance for downtime. For surface-level fine lines and early texture changes, Dr. Martin uses the Lase MD Ultra to deliver gentle, non-ablative energy that stimulates collagen from within — sessions are typically completed in under 30 minutes with no recovery required. For moderate lines requiring deeper remodeling, the Sciton Halo Tribrid combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in a single pass, addressing both surface texture and dermal integrity simultaneously — patients typically experience two to five days of social downtime. For deeper, more established wrinkles or significant skin laxity, Dr. Martin employs the ECO2 fractional CO2 laser to deliver controlled ablative resurfacing at the dermis level, stimulating robust collagen regeneration; this option involves five to seven days of recovery but yields some of the most durable improvements available without surgery. Genius RF Microneedling complements these laser options by delivering radiofrequency energy precisely beneath the skin's surface through microneedles, triggering collagen remodeling and tissue tightening with minimal surface disruption and roughly one to two days of mild redness.

What makes dynamic wrinkles different from other wrinkles?

Dynamic wrinkles are caused by muscle movement — they appear when you squint, raise your brows, or furrow your brow, and they deepen over time as the skin loses its ability to bounce back after repeated contractions. Static wrinkles, by contrast, are present at rest and driven by collagen loss and volume depletion. The distinction matters because the treatments are completely different. At our practice, we evaluate both types during your consultation, because many patients have a combination — and treating only one while ignoring the other limits how much improvement is achievable.

How does neurotoxin treat dynamic wrinkles?

Neurotoxin — including products like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin — works by temporarily blocking the nerve signal to the targeted muscle, reducing its ability to contract with full force. The result is a softening of the lines created by that movement, without eliminating expression entirely. At our practice, the goal is never a frozen or expressionless result — it's a balanced, natural-looking softening that preserves your ability to communicate emotion. Dosing and placement are individualized based on your muscle strength, facial symmetry, and what you're hoping to achieve.

How long do results last, and how often will I need treatment?

Results typically appear within three to seven days and last three to four months on average. With consistent treatment over time, many patients find their results extend slightly longer — likely because the muscles become somewhat accustomed to reduced activity. At our practice, we don't recommend a fixed schedule for everyone — we recommend coming in when you start to notice movement returning, which varies between patients. Some prefer to return at three months to maintain a consistent baseline; others are comfortable waiting until four or five months.

Are there risks I should know about?

Neurotoxin is one of the most studied aesthetic treatments available, with a very well-established safety profile when administered by an experienced provider. The most common side effects are mild and temporary — slight redness or swelling at injection sites, occasional minor bruising. The more significant risks, like brow ptosis or lid heaviness, are uncommon and almost always the result of imprecise placement or incorrect dosing. At our practice, every injection is planned based on a thorough assessment of your muscle anatomy and facial balance — precision is what prevents complications, and it's something we take seriously.
