Bridges

A dental bridge is an alternative to an implant when a tooth is missing. This treatment utilizes the teeth on both sides of a missing tooth to attach a ceramic tooth in a permanent, non-removable way. Bridges are constructed from the same materials as crowns and onlays and have the appearance and shade of a natural tooth. Dr. Martin will fully explain to you the difference between bridges and implants to help you choose which treatment is the best for your individual case.

Crowns & Onlays

Some cavities are too large for a filling and require some extra reinforcement to protect the tooth from fracturing. In these cases Dr. Martin will place an onlay or a crown on that tooth. Some patients know this procedure by the commonly used term “cap”. Crowns and onlays restore a tooth to its natural appearance while also giving it extra strength. Our crowns are made of the most modern ceramic materials that are largely indistinguishable from a natural tooth. This procedure is done in two appointments and at the end your tooth will look brand new again!

Dentures

A denture is a removable device which can replace some or all of your teeth and must be taken out each night before you go to bed. When only some teeth are missing, a “partial denture” can be created in either a rigid or flexible base. When all of the teeth are missing a “complete denture” can be created to restore the esthetic and functionality of your smile. Dentures require several appointments in order to create that custom precise fit that you can wear confidently and comfortably. Sometimes implants are used in conjunction with a denture for a hybrid appliance that will be permanently attached in your mouth.

Extractions / Wisdom Teeth

Dr. Martin is trained in a wide array of surgical procedures which he performs on site in our office. Sometimes a tooth is decayed too badly to be saved in which case Dr. Martin will recommend an extraction. Sometimes a tooth is removed in order to make room for other teeth such as removing a baby tooth or wisdom teeth in order to allow the other teeth to erupt correctly into your mouth. Dr. Martin will discuss your wisdom teeth with you at your first appointment. In some cases we will refer a case to an Oral Maxillofacial surgeon however many cases are completed in our office. Under local anesthesia this is a painless procedure. We offer nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) to patients who request it.

Implants

When a tooth is missing or has been removed by your dentist, an implant is a great option to replace it. Dental implants are reliable and long lasting and may be an option for you. Implants are made of titanium and placed painlessly in your mouth under local anesthesia. This procedure is carried out with the help of a Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon who will work closely with Dr. Martin from the start to the end of the treatment. You should expect this treatment to take approximately 6-8 months from start to finish and we can place a temporary tooth to hide the missing tooth until treatment is complete.

Orthodontics & Clear Aligner Therapy

Dr. Martin is proud to offer orthodontics through the SureSmile clear aligner system. Our fully-digital office allows us to provide excellent orthodontic treatment by digitally scanning your mouth in place of old-fashioned messy impressions. The average duration of treatment is 8-12 months and many cases can be treated right here in our office while some more complex cases may be referred to one of the amazing orthodontists in the area who Dr. Martin works closely with. Please ask for a digital scan of your mouth at your next hygiene appointment and we will assess if you are a candidate for clear aligner therapy!

Periodontics

Keeping your gums healthy is important to keeping your teeth healthy. Non-surgical deep cleanings are a normal part of dental treatment which we provided in our office for patients with large amounts of tartar build-up. Surgical periodontal care is sometimes necessary and will be referred to a local periodontist who will work closely with Dr. Martin. Remember, “only floss the teeth you want to keep!”

Root Canal Therapy

Sometimes when a cavity is very large and has come too close to the nerve of the tooth Dr. Martin may inform you that a “root canal” is necessary. For this procedure we usually will refer you to an endodontist in the area to perform this procedure for you utilizing the most modern and advanced technology available. We work with a team of very talented doctors who will take very good care of you for this phase of your treatment.

TMJ Therapy and Dental Bruxism

"Bruxism” is a chronic condition in which you grind or clench your teeth. If you suffer from bruxism you may consciously or subconsciously grind or clench your teeth while you are awake or while you are sleeping. This condition can lead to flattened or fractured teeth, tight, tired, or enlarged jaw muscles, dull or moderate headaches that may also feel like ear aches, locked jaw that won’t close or open completely, TMJ complications, and sleep disruption. Dr. Martin frequently uses Botox to lessen and reduce dental grinding and clenching as a modern approach to managing this condition. If you suffer from dental clenching and grinding, please ask for more information at your next appointment. This effective and profound treatment is very well received and can greatly reduce the tension many patients experience through their jaw and facial muscles.

Teeth Whitening and Bleaching

We have several options available to patients who wish to achieve a brighter, whiter smile. Some of these options are completed in our office, some are products which you will apply at home and some involve a combination of both. Please let Dr. Martin or any member of our staff know if you would like to whiten your teeth.

Tooth Bonding

In some cases we can use the same material which is placed in a filling to adjust the shape of a tooth or close the space between front teeth. This is an affordable and fast alternative to conventional braces and less invasive than veneers as generally no drilling is required. This procedure is achieved in one painless appointment.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Our office utilizes white composite resin fillings which are durable and largely invisible to the eye. They match the shade of your tooth and you will never even know they are there! They are placed quickly and painlessly and ready to be chewed on as soon as you leave the office.

Veneers

A veneer is a cosmetic enhancement to improve the color, size, shape, or alignment of one or more teeth. Veneers are made out of porcelain or ceramic and painlessly bonded to the front side of your tooth much like a fake fingernail. Usually placed on front teeth in the smile line, they are a quick way to adjust the appearance of your smile and let you smile with confidence.
