Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spectra MDF Fractional Resurfacing Treatment?

MDF Fractional resurfacing is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment.  This treatment employs nanosecond acoustic high energy pulses to trigger collagen production in your skin. Consequently, it effectively minimizes the visibility of skin imperfections.

How Does Spectra MDF Fractional Resurfacing Work?

The Hollywood Spectra MDF Fractional handpiece creates tiny micro channels in your skin’s surface, which triggers the body’s natural healing response and encourages collagen production for skin rejuvenation. Enhanced collagen production helps to restore your skin to a more youthful appearance with less skin imperfections.

How Many MDF Fractional Resurfacing Treatments Are Needed?

The number of MDF Fractional resurfacing treatments you require will depend on your skin concerns and desired outcomes.  As with most of our laser treatments, it can be performed as a single session treatment however we encourage patients to consider multiple sessions spaced one or more months apart.

Who is an Ideal Candidate for the Spectra MDF Fractional Resurfacing Treatment?

The MDF Fractional Resurfacing treatment is indicated for all skin types. This treatment is suitable for those struggling with acne scarring, enlarged pores, and other skin-related concerns.  Treatment results for acne scarring with the MDF Spectra handpiece tend to appear faster than with radiofrequency microneedling, however the downtime associated with this treatment is greater than the downtime with microneedling.  An ideal MDF candidate is seeking fast and substantial results with less of a concern for downtime.

What is the Recovery Period After a Spectra MDF Fractional Resurfacing Treatment?

Following the MDF Spectra Fractional Resurfacing procedure you should be prepared to have very red skin for 4-5 days. During the healing process, most patients encounter redness and petechiae, characterized by tiny reddish-purple spots that appear due to bleeding underneath the skin in the treated area. Typically, these symptoms subside within three to five days and the skin is fully back to normal one week after treatment.

Is the Spectra MDF Fractional Resurfacing Treatment Painful?

We are able to provide a comfortable experience by applying topical anesthesia for up to one hour prior to the procedure. While some patients may experience a slight sensation of heat or sunburn for up to 24 hours after the treatment, this is generally a mild and manageable side effect.
